The Deputy’s new clip teased a tense mystery
Duke Nicholson opens up about his ‘The Deputy’ character
Tiffany Haddish and Duke Nicholson faced off in The Deputy’s new clip.
The upcoming crime thriller, The Deputy, stars Tiffany Haddish as Deputy Amanda Jackson, and Duke Nicholson portrays the character Toby Sawyer.
It is worth noting that Duke’s character is a rookie deputy who is ordered to guard a dead body at the scene of a crime, but the corpse eventually mysteriously disappears.
According to the official synopsis of the thriller, “Pressured to look the other way, Toby finds a lone ally in Deputy Amanda Jackson (Haddish) and sets his sights to unravel a lethal web of corruption to clear his name in a town where secrets stay buried.”
In a sneak peek shared by People Magazine, Tiffany can be seen saying, “Sawyer, talk to me,” while Duke explains mysterious events surrounding the missing corpse.
However, the teaser ended on a suspenseful note when Duke discovered a truck loaded with people and “coyotes.”
Speaking about his character, Duke told the outlet that “Toby is messy, flawed and completely in over his head, but he has a good heart, and that’s what drew me to him.”
He further said that the film had “this wonderfully chaotic energy that actually felt very appropriate for Toby’s story.”
“I hope audiences have a blast with the movie, but also root for Toby as he discovers that sometimes doing the right thing means refusing to look the other way,” Duke added.
It is pertinent to mention that the deputy is set to be released on September 25, 2026.
