Cargo drones rescue stranded flood victims in China’s Guangxi region

Cargo drones have reportedly been used to rescue people trapped by severe flooding in China’s Guangxi region, potentially reaching areas that are difficult to provide assistance.

During July 2006 floods from Typhoon Maysak in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, volunteer pilots flew heavy-like drones like the FC200 to deliver food, water and medicine to isolated villages.

In one remarkable rescue in Liulan village, a pilot navigated nearly 3,000 feet in nine minutes to airlift a man from his roof as battery levels dropped to 23 percent.

In light of the achievement, DJI acknowledged these life-saving persons lifts despite usual bans, providing free repairs and highlighting the drones’ disaster capabilities and guardrails while clarifying the footage’s true origin.

On social platform X, users have been responding to the video online with one writing, “The work once done by helicopter is being done easily by these hawks.”

Second lamented: “If that drone can carry, say, a 250-pound man, that would mean it could also carry 250-pound bombs? Scary to think about.”

Third added, “I'm convinced this is more CCP propaganda. At 0:15, he stops his descent pretty hard, yet we hear no increase in rotor noise. I've seen this class of drone doing weed spraying on farms, and even with 50 pounds of chemicals aboard, they just don't move with that kind of authority.”

Nonetheless, cities across south China’s Zhuang autonomous region are witnessing the normalization after severe flooding, with river debris cleared, and infrastructure repaired at a flooded education park now ready for the new semester.
