A newly published patent details a "hardware privacy mute circuit" designed to completely cut power to onboard sensors and cameras at the physical hardware level.
Unlike software settings, this physical safeguard cannot be bypassed or overridden by external software exploits or hacks.
The move builds on previous software updates intended to automatically disable recording if the device's external LED indicator light is blocked, following reports of bad actors physically drilling out or modifying the warning lights.
