Gianni Infantino’s reported Morocco 2030 World Cup final offer sparks fresh FIFA controversy

Gianni Infantino has reportedly offered Morocco the right to host the 2030 World Cup final in exchange for political backing as the FIFA president battles to help safeguard his presidency.

The 56-year-old is under pressure after United's reactive efforts from his controversial World Cup investment proposals.

Infantino has been based in Rabat since criticism escalated over his failed attempt to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors. It has been observed that the Swiss officials spent the few days looking for proclamations of support from football federations.

The report maintains Infantino summoned an emergency session with senior FIFA officials at the governing body’s Africa regional headquarters in Rabat today as demands for his resignation intensify.

Morocco has been one of Infantino’s biggest advocates since his election in 2016 and is all set to co-host the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.

According to The Times, Infantino has secretly guaranteed Moroccan officials that the final will be played there rather than at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu. 

Nonetheless, any such commitment may prove challenging with netizens contending that choices regarding the ultimate location could be revisited if FIFA elects a new president.
