Tesla Model Y L arrives in US with six seats and 325-mile range
Tesla expanded availability to other Asia-Pacific markets before bringing the model to the United States
Tesla has launched the six-seater Model Y L in the United States as the electric vehicle maker looks to strengthen sales following the removal of a key federal tax credit.
The long wheelbase version of Tesla's best-selling SUV is priced from 61,990 dollars, according to the company's website.
The three-row vehicle offers an estimated range of 325 miles and is designed to provide additional seating without introducing an entirely new model.
Rather than launching new vehicles, Tesla has focused on expanding its existing Model Y and Model 3 line-ups with new variants to attract more buyers.
The Model Y L first debuted in China last year, where it helped support sales despite growing competition from domestic manufacturers, including BYD.
Tesla later expanded availability to other Asia-Pacific markets before bringing the model to the United States.
The announcement follows strong second-quarter delivery results reported by the company on Thursday.
Tesla posted record quarterly deliveries that exceeded Wall Street expectations, driven by a recovery in European demand.
