Seth Rogen slams today's Hollywood for not taking risks
Seth Rogen claims Hollywood has become extremely risk-averse
Seth Rogen, an actor and filmmaker, has a gripe to make about Hollywood nowadays.
He gave an example of his 2007 movie Superbad.
In his opinion, the studios would not back a project like this because it will hit roadblocks on issues such as debate over casting and potential profitability.
He told the New York Times, “Yeah, 100 percent. Superbad is a good example."
"When we made that movie, they bought our script; they said it would have a $20 million budget and it would start shooting that year and would come out in August of the following year. That’s it."
Rogen continued, “We cast the movie, we found a director for the movie, we made it according to their schedule, and we released it on the date they chose."
“That would never happen today in a hundred million years. No studio would just buy a script, give it a release date, cast it, and then make it.”
Superbad, when released, received positive reviews from critics and was a box-office hit.
