On Friday, Mexican authorities reportedly discovered a decomposing body in the trunk of a vehicle parked near the stadium, where Iranian teams have been training ahead of the World Cup.
This incident took place adjacent to the Estadio Caliente where authorities discovered a body wrapped in a black bag. Forensic investigators were fully committed to collecting evidence before removing the body.
A spokesperson for the office stated: “During an inspection of the vehicle, a body wrapped in a black nag bearing signs of violence was found in the trunk.”
The recent incident triggered various reactions from fans on social platform X with one user commenting: “Dark timing. A murder right across from Iran's World Cup training base in Tijuana. Hopefully just a bad coincidence and not something more.”
Second wrote, “Iran has every obligation to boycott this tournament, but they want to play the good boy thing. Propaganda everywhere.”
The incident occurred while the World Cup was being co-hosted by Mexico, United States and Canada. Iran’s national team shifted its training base from Arizona to Mexico due to security concerns and conflicts involving the United States and has been under heavy security arriving in the country.
