Crimson Desert’s patch notes: What’s included in the biggest update since launch?
The significant transformation depends on where you are in your playthrough and your priorities, but it nevertheless holds a lot for everyone
The recent Crimson Desert patch from Pearl Abyss is a massive 37 GB update on Steam, introducing significant gameplay shifts, technical improvements and new features.
The game now offers Easy, Medium, and Hard modes; notably, Hard mode requires a full animation to consume food, preventing the previous “healing spam" during combat.
At present, there are no mentions of extra rewards or XP for playing on higher difficulties. Bosses are no longer immune during powerful attacks, and many have had their attack patterns or escape maneuvers adjusted.
Fans will be excited to know that a series of chests have been added to the player’s house, rather than the camp itself. It is pertinent to note that “Sturdy Gatherables” gives you 1,000 slots for crafting or refinement materials that can be used without needing to be in your inventory.
So, the Kuku Cooler stores food items and incorporates collectible store items and recipes. Additionally, wardrobes offer 100 clothing slots, and you can have 1,000 total storages from them. Bosses are no longer immune during their powerful attacks as their patterns, and counterattacks have also been adjusted.
The “Pulse” version of Force Palm is now faster and can be charged up to three damage levels. In line with Kliff’s new skill, he can now throw his weapon and recall it by re-pressing the button or walking near it. Both Damiane and Oongka gained an Ambusk skill and a version of Kliff’s Focused Force Palm.
New category tabs-including Equipment, Food and Materials -have been added for easier navigation. Map makers can now feature custom colors and patterns, while wells have been made visible on the map.
Additionally, at maximum trust, shop inventory status can be viewed directly from the map screen.
The primary reason for the large patch size is the significant improvement to the rendering of distant objects and textures. Character models also feature enhanced detail and better hair lighting when viewed from a distance.
Furthermore, a colorblind mode has been added, alongside the ability to increase subtitle size. Finally, tumbleweeds have been introduced to desert regions to enhance the environmental atmosphere.
