Kensington Palace shares video of Windsor Castle ceremony
Prince William awards honors at a ceremony held at Windsor Castle
Kensington Palace on Wednesday shared a video of Windsor Castle investiture ceremony where Prince William honored awards on behalf of King Charles.
"A new year of investitures is underway! Congratulations to everyone receiving awards today," read the caption for the video shared on social media accounts of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
English businessman and the owner of football team Oldham Athletic, Frank Rothwell, Dame Clare Barclay, the Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft UK, and English professional footballer Millie Bright were also among those who were honored by the future king.
Actor Idris Elba was among the hundreds named in King Charles's New Year honours list published last month.
The full list includes more than 1,157 people in politics, sport, the arts or community service to be awarded titles from Member, Commander or Officer of the Order of the British Empire to the highest honours of knighthoods and damehoods.
The New Year honours, which have been awarded since at least 1890, aim to recognise not just well-known figures but people who have contributed to national life through often unsung work over many years.
Those honoured will receive their awards at investiture ceremonies held later in 2026 at royal residences.
According to the royal family's website, "an Investiture is the very special day when someone who has been awarded an honour receives their award in person from a Member of the Royal Family. The investee visits a Royal residence, usually Buckingham Palace, with members of their family, to receive their insignia."
