The boxing world mourns at the tragic loss of boxing champion Anthony Joshua’s coaches and closest friends, who died in a fatal car accident on Monday, December 29, 2025.

According to Nigerian authorities, the incident also involved former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, who escaped the accident with minor injuries in a car crash that killed two of his friends and team coaches.

As tributes poured in, world-famous boxing world champion Amir khan also paid tribute to two of Anthony Joshua’s trainers and coaches Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele also known as ‘Latz.’

Amir expressed his deep grief to the deceased while sharing a post on ‘X’, that wrote, “Extremely saddened to hear about the loss of Anthony Joshua’s two close boys.”

“I don’t even have the right words for such a difficult time. May God give their families strength, and may Allah grant them the highest rank in Jannah. Also wishing AJ a speedy recovery,” he added further.

Amir also shared a post on his Instagram as a gesture of condolence.

Following the tragic deaths of AJ’s coaches, Joshua’s longtime rival Tyson Fury has also paid tribute to the late Kevin Latif Ayodele, Latz, and Sina Ghami.

Former heavyweight champion Fury has now taken to social media to pay tribute to Ghami and Ayodele.

'This is so sad,' wrote the Gypsy King on Instagram. 'May God give them a good bed in heaven.'

Fury's tributes came only minutes after he teased his own return to the ring in 2026—despite insisting he was retiring from the sport for good last January.

The 37-year-old posted a picture of himself alongside his sons Prince and Johnboy, with the trio wearing shirts bearing the message, 'I'm back.' Fury. My legacy. Old School.'

Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, both integral members of Joshua's team, lost their lives when the SUV they were travelling in with Joshua smashed into a stationary truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Makun yesterday.

The unfortunate incident happened after Joshua had only just returned to the ring after more than a year out, beating Jake Paul on Netflix in what was a huge payday, and he was in Nigeria simply to spend New Year with family when this tragedy struck.

Additionally, Joshua is expected to fight long-time rival and fellow Briton Tyson Fury in 2026.
