Queen Camilla wanted to remain private about King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, says an insider.

Her Majesty, who has been fighting the battle with her husband for the past two years, did not want any further scrutiny on His Majesty.

A source tells The Times: “King Charles was determined from the outset to pursue ‘openness and transparency’ and Camilla, 78, has taken comfort in how buoyed her husband has been by the public response to his candour about his illness

The newspaper reported: "It can now be revealed that when the King learnt he had cancer nearly two years ago, his wife initially believed his diagnosis should remain private, as she feared the toll public scrutiny of his health might take on his recovery.

“His hesitancy stemmed from a concern for her husband’s privacy, fearing that ‘once the door on it had been opened, it could never be closed,’” noted the paper.

It is not the first time that Camilla’s disproval of her husband was laid bare. Reports had shared that the Queen Consort had a constant worry about her husband as he continued to take on royal duties and engagements.

The King had refused to slow don and Camilla commented that his recovery would be quicker is he “behaved himself” referring to the monarch’s workload.
