Nicholas Galitzine reveals 'hardest' thing he has done for any movie role
Nicholas Galitzine is discussing an arduous thing he had to do
Nicholas Galitzine had a tough time bulking up to play He-Man in the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Masters of the Universe.
Especially since the "larger-than-life character" was portrayed by a hunky and huge Dolph Lundgren in the 1987 film of the same name, Galitzine had huge shoes to fill.
He had to begin bulking up months before filming the movie and wouldn’t like to stick to such a lifestyle for the long term.
"It's not something I'd be keen to do or maintain all year round," he said.
"It's the hardest thing I've ever done; it was a daily challenge," he told People of the trying process.
He continued, "But there is something incredibly empowering about committing to something so heavily. I've never had a challenge like that before, which really every single day you have to wake up and you can see the peak of the mountain vaguely, but especially when you're bulking. I think it would be insincere for me to say that it was easy."
The Red, White & Royal Blue actor, 31, also felt "body dysmorphia" as he saw his body change drastically: "You don't recognize yourself, you don't fit in any of your clothes anymore."
He gained so much weight that he left a "definite dent" on the side of the bed he slept on.
But ultimately, the Idea of You star is grateful for the role.
"But really," he said, "I'm so gratified that I got to experience it and trying to fit this very larger-than-life character."
Nicholas Galitzine's fans can watch him in the new fantasy romance film 100 Nights of Hero, which also stars Felicity Jones, Emma Corrin, and Charli xcx.
