Meghan Markle praised for her 'guts' amid Thomas Markle illness
Meghan Markle is praised for being able to get in touch with her father, Thomas Markle
Meghan Markle is lauded for her proactive approach amid father, Thomas Markle’s illness.
The Duchess of Sussex, who has reached out to estranged dad individually amid his hospitalisation in Philippines, is praised for her ‘guts.’
Speaking about the mother-of-two, Royal expert Jasmine Carey writes: “While it is not known what she said to her father in the letter, the main point is the fact she did contact him. And that takes guts.”
“Of course, people will be quick to criticise her regardless. Why hasn’t she flown to the Philippines? Why didn’t she contact him previously when he had been ill before?
She tells Express: “But it’s just not this simple. Firstly, yes Meghan could afford a private jet (probably) to the Philippines where her father lives and is being treated in hospital. And as she doesn’t work a regular 9-5, I’m sure she could find the time too.
“To fly there would be a mistake. It would generate global attention firstly, and a reconciliation in front of the eyes of the world is hard. Look how long it’s taken Harry to make amends with King Charles?
“So by contacting him personally, I think is the best thing she could have done.
The expert continued: “She has put her cards on the table and reached out to him to show concern and a desire to check he is ok. And all of this has been done privately, just as any reconciliation between them in future is expected to be.”
