Real reason Meghan Markle is 'greiving' as dad Thomas Markle gets sick

Meghan Markle is going through a tough phase in her life, considering her dad’s illness.

The Duchess of Sussex, who has not spoken to father Thomas Markle since 2018, is going through a rough time with her family dynamics.

Speaking about Thomas’ latest leg amputation and Meghan’s urge to reschedule out to him, family counselling expert, Dr Jane Halsall, tells Mirror: “Estrangement between adult children and parents is emotionally painful, often arising from boundary violations or disappointment.”

The expert explained:"Depending on the dynamics, adult children may worry for their parent, while needing to protect themselves, which leads to them experiencing both grief and ambivalence."

"Public statements against their wishes, as in this case, can intensify this tension," Dr Halsall warns. "Healing relies on respecting boundaries, careful communication, and therapeutic support. If there is estrangement within a family, then it takes time to heal and resilience—the effort to balance love, concern, and self-protection while maintaining psychological well-being for yourself."

Since the 81-year-old Thomas' leg amputation surgery, there were dozens of reports about the Duchess of Sussex sending a message to her dad in a Philippines hospital.

But, in conversation with the Mail on Sunday, Thomas denied that his daughter had made any contact as of now, sparking backlash aimed at Meghan.

Now, to end the back-to-back speculations, Meghan's spokesperson made the first urgent statement, criticising the Daily Mail's reporter for creating problems between the Duchess and her father.

As per the official response, "Given that a Daily Mail reporter has remained at her father’s bedside throughout, broadcasting each interaction and breaching clear ethical boundaries, it has been exceedingly difficult for the Duchess to contact her father privately, despite her efforts over the past several days.
