Gwyneth Paltrow reacts to being cast for her ‘gentry quality’
Gwyneth Paltrow admits her childhood was ‘very privileged’
Gwyneth Paltrow is getting candid about her upbringing with her famous parents
In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, 53-year-old actress opened up about her childhood with her parents, Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner, calling it "very privileged."
In the article published on Wednesday, Gwyneth could not control her laugh when inquired about director Josh Safdie's explanation to Vogue that he wanted to cast someone with "a landed gentry quality" in the new movie Marty Supreme.
"It must be a quality that I give off. I come from a very WASPy mother with Mayflower-ish roots, daughter of the American Revolution, all that kind of stuff," she said.
"So I think maybe epigenetically, there is some of that there. And I was a very privileged kid," she continued, "I grew up on the Upper East Side, and I went to a great school and all the things."
"So some of the stuff that he sees, which is also the stuff I’ve been criticized for my whole life, is real," Gwyneth added.
Gwyneth's father, Bruce, was a director and producer who passed away in 2002 due to cancer, while her mom, Danner, is an Emmy Award and Tony Award-winning actress.
She kickstarted her acting career at the age of 17 with a 1989 television movie written and directed by her father titled High. She also won an Academy Award for her performance in Shakespeare in Love.
Gwyneth first tied the knot with Chris Martin and welcomed two children, daughter Apple, 21, and son Moses, 19. The pair was married from 2003 to 2014.
She is currently married to TV writer and producer Brad Falchuk.
