Drew Barrymore reveals one rule she made Adam Sandler follow on '50 First Dates'
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler played love interests in '50 First Dates' and more films
Drew Barrymore had a specific rule for Adam Sandler’s singing scenes in their romcoms together.
Adam and Drew have costarred in The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, both of which had climax scenes which featured the comedian singing to her.
Drew demanded that the song be lept secret from her so that she could hear it for the first time while filming and capture her real reaction.
During his recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Happy Gilmore star and the Charlie’s Angels actres reminisced about their time filming together.
Looking at a BTS photo of them filming, Adam said, "Oh, there's 'Forgetful Lucy,' the night we sang 'Forgetful Lucy,' right?
"The fun story with this is that when Adam sings a song to me in our movie," Barrymore began, and her costar interjected, "You don’t let me tell you what it is."
"I won't let you play it for me beforehand and we do it for real live on camera," she explained. "That's the very first time. So when you see me hearing a song 'Forgetful Lucy' or 'I Wanna Grow Old With You' in The Wedding Singer, that is my natural reaction."
Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler reunited once more in 2014's Blended, which was also a love story but one involving characters with kids.
