Prince William, Kate forced to step back as Andrew’s health ‘at risk’
Prince William and Kate Middleton swallow bitter pill as King Charles remains silent
Prince William and Princess Kate may not have close association with the disgraced royal Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, but they had to let go of their fury despite his antics.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, who moved into their new home Forest Lodge, are currently neighbours with the former Duke of York at Royal Lodge. King Charles has officially cut off Andrew from all royal association, including titles and honours, and has even begun a formal process to evict him from the lavish Windsor property.
However, William and Kate were left in shock when Andrew was brazenly seen horse-riding on the Windsor estate, as his photos made headlines in the media.
The King is also left exasperated as Andrew’s appearance deviated the attention from the royal engagements. Although, he has remained quiet on the matter.
Despite their grievances, royal expert Jennie Bond believes that the royals are bound by a particular duty to take an action on Andrew’s latest stunt.
“While there is no love lost between William, Catherine and Andrew, my understanding is that they, and the rest of the royal family, believe they still have a duty of care for his welfare and mental health,” Bond told The Mirror.
She explained that Andrew is reportedly becoming “isolated, depressed and solitary” which could have severe impact on his well-being.
Bond suggested that it is not Andrew’s fault is the “photographers are ready to pounce if he dares to venture out” and William and Kate would not “begrudge” him for merely getting fresh air.
“Obviously, it would be more convenient if it wasn’t on their doorstep, but they know that this is about to end and he will be living miles away in Sandringham,” she pointed out.
Andrew is set to vacate the premises by early next year and move into his new accommodation. Some reports suggest that Charles has offered a small cottage at Sandringham estate while other reports reveal lavish offers from Middle-East that Andrew may be looking forward to.
It remains to be seen where Andrew will eventually go but until then, William and Kate are left to swallow the bitter pill of having the shamed royal as a neighbour.
