Duchess Sophie marks important milestone for UK after key meeting in Peru
Duchess Sophie has charmed the public as she vigilantly performs all the tasks assigned to her during her South and Central American tour.
The Duchess of Edinburgh wrapped her interesting Peru visit in an important meeting to strengthen the diplomatic ties as she met with the President and other government officials of the country, representing the UK and the monarch.
In an update shared by the British Embassy in Lima, the highlights from the meeting were shared, marking a moment of pride for the King.
A beaming Sophie, dressed in floral monochrome dress, stood next to the president while gracefully posing for the portrait. She was also seen captivating the listeners present during the discussion held at the Government Palace.
“To conclude her visit, Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Edinburgh, had a protocol greeting with the President of the Republic, José Jerí and the Chancellor, Ambassador Hugo De Zela,” the statement read.
“We are proud that the visit of The Duchess continues to strengthen the more than 200 years of friendship and collaboration between Peru and the United Kingdom.”
Sophie, who is now popularly considered as the King’s ‘secret weapon’, appeared in high spirits as she marked a significant moment for the diplomatic ties of the country.
After concluding her visit in Peru on Friday, the Duchess has now arrived in Panama to continue her mission by undertaking a series of engagements.
Sophie has been sent on the crucial 10-day visit at the behest of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
