Buckingham Palace confirms Duchess Sophie next event after UK return
Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie assigned key task in Scotland on behalf of King Charles
The Duchess of Edinburgh is diving right back into her solo duties after an important royal tour with her husband Prince Edward.
Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie recently travelled to the Inner Hebrides, a cluster of islands located off the west coast of Scotland, to learn more about life in remote island communities.
As Sophie and Edward return from their trip, Buckingham Palace confirmed that on Monday, Sophie will be attending an Afternoon Tea honouring Women of Distinction in UK at Castle Hotel, 18 High Street in Windsor.
The hotel is located just opposite Windsor Castle and promises to offer a centre stage for the event, which recognise outstanding women in various fields and their achievements.
Duchess Sophie will be interacting with these women and learning about their work. There is also a speech expected to be delivered by the royal member.
The mother of Lady Louise and Viscount James has been given a more prominent role in the royal family since the past year, especially after King Charles’s cancer diagnosis was revealed in February.
She has been dubbed as monarchy's "secret weapon" as she has undertaken several solo trips on behalf of the King - notably being the first royal to visit war-torn Ukraine.
The King is reportedly pleased with his sister-in-law and her loyalty and rewards her appropriately with honours.
