Stevie Nicks confirms first album in 14 years: 'I call it the ghost record'
The Fleetwood Mac icon says the recent LA wildfires inspired her to get back in the studio
Stevie Nicks is ending a 14-year hiatus as she gears up to release a new album.
While accepting her Pollstar Hall of Fame honour on April 16, the Fleetwood Mac icon surprised fans by revealing she’s working on her first new solo record since 2011’s In Your Dreams, according to fan-captured footage.
“I’m actually making a record right now,” Nicks, 76, shared on stage. “I call it the ghost record.”
The idea came to her during an unexpected pause in life — 92 days stuck in a hotel after fleeing this year’s devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
“I was sitting in a hotel for 92 days... and I thought, ‘You need to go back to work.’ And I did,” she said.
Nicks has already written seven tracks for the untitled project, describing them as some of her most personal work yet. “They are not airy-fairy songs that you are wondering who they’re about... They’re real stories of memories of mine, of fantastic men!”
She hinted that this album marks a new level of emotional honesty, saying the songs are “autobiographical” and “I’m not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life.”
