Kris Jenner recalls first thing she ‘actually negotiated’ for herself
Kris Jenner reflects on the experience of being flight attendant at start of career
Kris Jenner has long been known as the ultimate momager, but it turns out her earliest lessons in business didn’t come from Hollywood boardrooms—they started somewhere 35,000 feet in the air.
On the latest episode of The Burnouts podcast, hosted by Phoebe Gates and Sophia Kianni, the duo kicked things off by sharing why Jenner is such a role model to them.
It’s all about her fearless confidence and quick thinking in the professional world—something she’s clearly been mastering since her flight attendant days.
“Every single lesson that I learned that I really appreciate, I think I learned from that year and a half or two years of being a flight attendant,” Jenner shared, proving that jet-setting jobs can teach you more than just how to handle turbulence.
When she first received her assignment from American Airlines, she admitted her excitement took a bit of a nosedive.
“I was miserable,” Jenner said, recalling how she hoped to land a glamorous route that included Los Angeles. Instead, she was told those routes required years of seniority.
But in true Kris Jenner fashion, she wasn’t about to sit back and wait for her moment to board.
“There’s always another way,” she said—and that’s when the wheels started turning.
Jenner explained how she got proactive, chatting with everyone she could to find a workaround. Eventually, she marched into the scheduling office with a mission.
“‘Listen, I’ve got a problem. This is what I need and this is what I know you have the power to do. How can we meet in the middle? What can I do to accomplish this,’” she recalled saying.
The answer? The substitute list. And maybe a sweet bribe or two.
“It was one of the first things that I actually negotiated for myself,” she added, cheekily revealing she may have “walked into the scheduling room with brownies” on more than one occasion.
