'Death of a Unicorn' director feels lucky to sign Jenna Ortega
Alex Scharfman believes Jenna Ortega is an incredible performer
Alex Scharfman, Death of a Unicorn creator, has opened that he feels lucky to have signed Jenna Ortega as main lead for the film.
The director signed up the actress for the role before she found fame with her popular show Wednesday.
He believes that Jenna is an incredible performer and collaborator. Alex explained, “It was very daunting because there’s a lot that rides on the character of Ridley.”
“She’s a vehicle for exposition, but she’s also the emotional focus of the movie. She’s the audience’s eyes and ears.”
Scharfman confesses that he doesn’t know what he would have done if he would not have got Ortega in the movie.
"So I don’t know what we would’ve done if we didn’t get Jenna. It’s such a hard role, and she does such an incredible job with it”, he said while talking to The Hollywood Reporter.
Death of a Unicorn is a horror comedy film featuring the You actress along with Marve actor Paula Rudd. The film released in theatres on March 28.
