Tate McRae breaks silence on album ‘So Close to What’ leak
Tate McRae recalls how she gained ‘control’ of the situation
Tate McRae opened up about the heart-breaking moment when she learned about her album, So Close to What, leak.
During the album listening event with Spotify at the Living Room in Los Angeles, the Greedy singer recalled how she felt "devastated" to learn that some of her songs had surfaced online ahead of the album's planned release date.
"Unfortunately, a lot of the album got leaked, which was a f---ing bummer," said The Kid LAROI’s girlfriend. "And I think obviously that makes you look at the project differently."
The It's ok I'm ok continued, "I was just so devastated because I’m like, 'There’s nothing I can do about this. The whole project is online.'"
McRae shared that her “problem-solving brain” couldn’t find any solution. However, to control the situation she then decided to “write a couple more songs."
"I wrote a song called Like I Do and Bloodonmyhands and just [tried] to grab as much control back as I could in that kind of situation," added the That Way artist.
Elsewhere she also shared how her leaked songs weren’t finalized and are now edited.
Tate McRae’s album So Close to What is slated for release on February 21st, 2025. The album also features a collaborative song, I Know Love, with boyfriend The Kid LAROI.
