Trump, Biden to go head-to-head in historic presidential debate
Both politicians will face serious questions from voters about their fitness and age-related issues
After months of comments and speeches, President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump will finally be seen together for a face-to-face debate in a historic showdown on Thursday, The Hill reported.
This will be the first time a sitting president will be seen debating a former president on stage. Both the Republican and Democratic candidates face serious questions from voters about their fitness and age-related issues.
Biden, 81, and Trump, 77, are almost neck to neck in debate polls, which is why both will have to be at their best behaviour as they can’t afford any mistakes.
As per reports, Biden has retreated into Camp David for preparations and his team expects aggressive attacks on his physical and mental strength, his record on the economy and immigration and his son, Hunter Biden.
In contrast, Trump — who is busy campaigning — will leave for Florida two days prior to the debate for private meetings as part of an informal prep process.
The ex-president is expected to be asked questions about his hush money trial, his role in the abrasion of abortion rights and his unprecedented legal baggage.
The debate is expected to be a pivotal defining moment in the White House race. It will be hosted by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash in Atlanta.
The rules for the June 27 debate include the candidates meetingdirectly at the CNN studio in Atlanta without any audience. Each will have a microphone which will be unmuted only when the candidate has to speak. No props or prewritten notes will be allowed inside.
