Isha Ambani's Met Gala sari gown took 10,000 hours to make
Mukesh Ambani's daughter wore hand-crafted sari gown at Met Gala
Isha Ambani, the managing director of Reliance Retail, awed the Met Gala 2024 with a Rahul Mishra couture sari gown, which was hand-embroidered and custom-crafted by some of the finest needleworkers of India.
It took almost 10,000 hours to make the garment, which has distinctive motifs of flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies that are expertly embroidered, according to Business Today.
The gown's intricate and detailed work was completed utilising applique and embroidery techniques such as dabka, zardozi, nakshi, and fareesha. Part of the gown included French knots as well, according to stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania, who is also the designer for Isha Ambani.
"Together, all of these elements carry a powerful narrative about the state of the planet and offer a message of hope and rebirth. The magnificent look was intricately hand-embroidered at Rahul Mishra's ateliers across several Indian villages, supporting hundreds of local craftspeople and weavers," she added.
Isha Ambani accessorised her ensemble with Viren Bhagat's nature-inspired jewellery, which included a flower choker, parrot earrings, and traditional lotus hand bracelets (Haathpochas). She also carried a handbag that Swadesh had made utilising miniature painting and other Indian art forms like Nakashi.
The Mayura, India's national bird, is shown in a tiny but intricate painting on the clutch bag. Artist Hari Narain Marotia, who resides in Jaipur, is the creator of the painting.
