WhatsApp services restored worldwide

Popular messaging application WhatsApp has restored its services hours after it suffered a global outage Wednesday as thousands of users reported disruption in using the Meta-owned services.

The message app said announced the restoration of services, saying, "And we're back. Happy chatting."

Earlier on late Wednesday, users on X, former Twitter, also reported the WhatsApp outage. 

Mark Zuckerberg's company bought WhatsApp for a $19 billion deal in 2014. 

Meta in a statement confirmed the outage Wednesday saying: "We are currently experiencing an outage impacting service on Cloud API. This issue started at 04-03-2024 11:18 AM PST." 

The statement further noted that their "engineering teams are investigating the issue." 

"We will provide another update within 4 hours or sooner if additional information is available," the Menlo Park-based company said.

In a post on X, WhatsApp also wrote: "We know some people are experiencing issues right now, we're working on getting things back to 100% for everyone as quickly as possible."

The disruption in the services come nearly a month after Meta services were down for two hours globally including Facebook and Instagram.

According to the company, the last month’s outage was due to technical issue that affected over thousands of users.
