WhatsApp introduces 1-minute video status updates
WhatsApp to finally let users share 1-minute videos on status update
In an effort to improve the user experience, WhatsApp has been bringing a range of upgrades over the last few months and continues to do so.
The platform has been upgraded to great extents, from introducing WhatsApp channels to making major UI changes, further hinting that there is more to go.
WhatsApp recently unveiled a much-awaited feature that will allow users to upload a minute-long clip to their status in one such move.
This comes as a result of longstanding requests from several users who have been urging the platform to extend the previous 30-second limit on video uploads.
WhatsApp now aims to permit one-minute videos on its status feature, just like Instagram, in line with the requests.
WhatsApp is presently testing a feature that will allow users to add a minute-long video to their status updates, according to WABetainfo.
Users will no longer need to crop or shorten their videos to 30 seconds. WhatsApp will automatically split it into 60-second segments, if the video exceeds the one-minute mark.
The new WhatsApp feature can be used in the following manner.
1. On your Android or iOS device, open the WhatsApp application.
2. Go to the 'Status' section and click on the 'My Status' icon to upload a video.
3. Select the video and confirm that it does not exceed the required one minute in length.
4. Once done, upload it to the video status for your contacts to view.
