Real Madrid clinch Champions League quarter-final berth with draw against Leipzig

Real Madrid, under the astute guidance of coach Carlo Ancelotti, made a tactical adjustment, by including Spain defender Nacho in the team in place of Rodrygo.

The first half witnessed an intense battle, with Leipzig proving to be the more dangerous side. However, Real Madrid weathered the storm, showcasing resilience in defense. The visitors persisted, and their efforts ultimately paid off in the 65th minute when a swift counter-attack orchestrated by Jude Bellingham culminated in Vinicius Jr. calmly slotting the ball into the net.

Leipzig retaliated promptly, taking advantage of a defensive lapse by Dani Carvajal. Willi Orban seized the opportunity with a diving header, leveling the score and injecting renewed energy into the contest.

Despite Leipzig's relentless attacking attempts, Real Madrid held firm. Ancelotti's men absorbed the pressure and secured their quarter-final berth. The nail-biting finish included a close call as Dani Olmo's strike rattled the crossbar, but it wasn't enough to alter the course of the match.
