David Beckham told THIS to Kiara Advani on India’s World Cup performance
“He [David Beckham] said to me, It's not luck. It's someone's hard work," says Kiara Advani
Commenting on India’s outstanding performance during the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023, former England football captain David Beckham said: “It's not luck. It's someone's hard work.”
He made the remarks amid his interaction with Bollywood film actor Kiara Advani during the tournament’s first semi-final clash between India and New Zealand in Mumbai, confirmed the actress.
During the mega event, the 48-year-old Inter Miami FC owner was spotted next to the Bollywood sensation and her husband Sidharth Malhotra. Chatting with Kiara, David attended the semi-final as part of his trip with Unicef, Outlook India reported.
Indian actors Advani and Vicky Kaushal recently made a joint appearance on Karan Johar's chat show, “Koffee With Karan” Season 8.
During the show, Advani recalled what legend Beckham told her at the semi-final game, and said, “I was at the semi-finals (Cricket World Cup 2023), and I happened to be sitting next to David Beckham. And someone around us was talking about how India is on this lucky streak with the way we are playing."
Quoting the football icon, the actor said, “He (David Beckham) said to me, It's not luck. It's someone's hard work. And, it hit me. I really resonated with that because it's never just a fluke. It's never just like a stroke of luck. It is always a team, in our case of course. And many people's hard work. It's talent, skill, and hard work. If you don't have that, no matter if the stars are in your favour, not everyone hits it out."
Despite an amazing World Cup campaign, India failed at the biggest stage of the tournament, the final. The Men In Blue were undefeated throughout the mega event, but it seemed like it just wasn’t their day as Australia shattered a billion dreams after thrashing them in the final on November 19.
