Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has shared a shocking revelation of being “literally” homeless, living in hotels and Airbnb's, as his legal woes and shrinking portfolio have taken away his once luxurious lifestyle.
He stated these remarks in an interview with The Telegraph.
He said, “Over the past seven years his expenses have been astronomical while his income has dwindled.”
Spacey’s financial rollercoaster is sharply emphasized by a dramatic loss: his Baltimore mansion with 9,000-square foot in size had to auctioned earlier this year, for merely $3.24 million, while it was purchased at $5.65 million.
The property was foreclosed after he defaulted on reportedly $20,000-a-month mortgage payments.
He admits virtually all his possessions are now in storage.
The basic cause of Spacey’s financial turmoil, he says, his legal debt.
Due to the high-profile sexual misconduct allegations, he has been facing with, he said that he owes “many millions” in legal bills.
Spacey disclosed that he came close to filing for bankruptcy more than once, though he claims he “managed to dodge it, at least as of today.”
In his own words, "I have had very coming in and everything going out."
Spacey says he is relentlessly following work opportunities instead of settling down, a lifestyle that forces short-term stays in Airbnbs or hotels.
He finds an odd sense of familiarity in this rootlessness, saying in the same interview: “In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started…I just went where the work was.”
Despite his current woes, he expresses a quiet confidence in his ability to mount a comeback, without citing concrete plans or supporters.
