After earning fame and success in the sports and entertainment world, Travis Kelce is receiving strong criticism online as he lands a major deal in the fashion world.
Tommy Hilfiger, a famous luxury fashion brand from the United States, has announced Kelce as its global brand ambassador and creative collaborator.
Since the brand announced the news on Twitter (previously on Twitter), fans filled the comment section, bashing Hilfiger for choosing him.
One fan severely criticized the band, writing that it is simply “killing your brand by signing a dumb, fugly, chubby, beard, just for the clout of a mega famous artist (you can’t sign now) should be studied. RIP Tommy.”
Another fan called him “loser” and “idiot,” while someone gave Taylor Swift the credit for his success.
“Just because his girl? Please no one knows him before,” the person commented.
The 36-year-old American football tight end, businessman, and podcaster will partake in different advertisement campaigns and a design collaboration for the brand.
Kelce’s campaign with Hilfiger will start in the fall of this year; however, they will spend two-and-a half days to record the campaign towards the end of April at an undisclosed iconic location in New York.
For the first ad campaign, Khe will wear the brand for tunnel walks along with his close collaboration with the design team to create a capsule collection to give a new feel to the brand’s classic pieces.
Voicing his thoughts about Taylor Swift’s fiancée, Hilfiger told Women’s Wear Daily, “Travis Kelce is one of the magnetic figures in sport and culture today.”
“He is at the forefront of a new generation of athletes expressing themselves through style, with a down-to-earth quality that people immediately connect with. I’m excited to see how he brings his fearless, fun-loving and bold take on Prep Made Current to fans around the world,” he quipped.
Stefan Larsson, chief executive officer of PVH Corp., Hilfiger’s parent firm, also stated that Tommy Hilfiger uses culture and sports in real ways that are “relevant and inspirational.”
“Travis Kelce represents a new generation of athletes who are shaping culture far beyond the field, making him a great partner for the brand. This collaboration is the most recent example of how we are unlocking the full potential of Tommy Hilfiger,” Larsson noted.
It is pertinent to mention that Travis Kelce’s contract will continue until the spring of 2027.
