Laura Dern is all set to star in a new limited series about Jeffrey Epstein's crimes.
According to People magazine, the 59-year-old actress will play an investigative journalist in the forthcoming series based on Julie K. Brown's book, Perversion of Justice: The Jeffrey Epstein Story.
The adaptation is being written by Sharon Hoffman, and Sony Pictures Television is currently taking the project to potential buyers. Eileen Myers will serve as executive producer and co-showrunner.
As per a description shared by Sony, the new series will be “an explosive account of an investigative reporter exposing the secret plea deal between Epstein and federal prosecutors."
"Drawing from Brown’s experience as a groundbreaking reporter for the Miami Herald, the book and the limited series follow her relentless years-long investigation that identified 80 victims, persuaded key survivors to go on the record, and led to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s arrests."
However, the series' release date has not yet been announced.
It is worth mentioning here that Jeffery took his own life at 66, almost a month after he was arrested for allegedly sex-trafficking girls.
Ghislaine Maxwell was found guilty of sex trafficking in 2021 and is seeking to have her conviction overturned.
