Dwayne Johnson calls his 'work' number one ‘therapist’

Dwayne Johnson has recently called his acting career his therapist in a new video.

The wrestler-turned-actor turned to Instagram on November 13 and posted a throwback clip from his Master Class that was held in Chapman University Dodge College, USA where he reflected on his career and life.

The Rock first thanked the “amazing students” at the university for a heartfelt discussion and even appreciated them for “letting him open up a little” about the painful period of his life.

Red Notice actor recalled that most of his life, he held onto his “traumatic and painful stuff and never talked about it” like his mother tried to take away her life after they got evicted.

However, over the years, Dwayne revealed that he rejected exploring his emotions on movies and would make it a point to do movies that were fun and had happy ending such as Jumanji and Moana.

And then, The Smashing Machine happened and this made him realise that he’s fond “to tell stories” as this helped him in healing from his past trauma.

“I will continue to challenge myself and The Smashing Machine was an opportunity of lifetime that did change my life,” said the 53-year-old.

Jungle Cruise actor revealed that he’s been “wildly freeing and cathartic knowing I can explore it these days, in my work”.

Now Dwayne has found a “place” to put his “issues” in it.

The Black Adam actor talked about trying “one on one therapy over the years with some very credible psychology folks,” but he “just never found my groove”.

“I’ll try it again down the road. But for now, my work is my #1 therapist. Just feels right,” added Dwayne.

Meanwhile, the actor also shared valuable to his younger self, adding, “I’d give to have a talk with my 15-year-old self, give him a hug, and tell him everything is going to shake out ok.”
