LONDON: Hundreds of British Pakistanis staged a rally here in support of the Saudi Arabia government and assured the powerful Arab country that Pakistanis stood by it in times of need.

The rally was organised by Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith (UK) and led by its leaders Shaikh Shoaib Ahmad, Shafiq-ur-Rehman and Hafiz Habib. Participated by representatives of Ahle Hadith branches from all over the UK, the rally was held on the Prince’s Gate in central London.

The demonstrators were carrying banners with slogans written in favour of Saudi Arabia and the royal family. The banners read that Saudi Arabia is the champion of the Muslim world and the royal family has acted wisely and judicially in promoting the rights of Muslims all over the world.

The demonstrators held that Saudi Arabia faces threats and conspiracies from various international and regional forces and these threats have increased in recent years. They said that it was unfortunate that some Muslim countries were also part of the alleged conspiracy, aimed at weakening the Saudi government in order to weaken the Muslim ummah. The protestors said that Saudi Arabia was doing its best to bring peace in the troubled countries such as Yemen, Iraq, Syria and elsewhere in the region but some elements were supporting groups which were interested in destabilising the regional peace.

Shaikh Shoaib Ahmad told ‘The News’ that a concerted effort has been launched against the Saudi government which was unacceptable to the Muslims.

“We cannot emphasise enough how great the role of Khadimeen Harmain Sharifain has been, they have served the Muslim ummah selflessly but it pains us all to see how some forces are out to do everything mischievous to harm the regional and international interests of Saudi Arabia. We cannot allow this to happen. History shows us that Saudis have always helped Pakistan and acted like our true big brother. No other country has helped Pakistan as much as Saudi Arabia has done,” said Shaikh Shoaib Ahmad.

Shafiq-ur-Rehman said that Saudi Arabia was the ‘Emirates of benevolence’ and ‘the Kingdom of Decisiveness’ as the Saudi Arabia has the most central and important place in the hearts of the Muslims ummah. He said that Pakistanis will stand by Saudis if Saudi Arabia’s national integrity and security was threatened by the “miscreants” and “anarchists”. He said that Saudi Arabia was playing a great role against terrorism and extremism.

Hazfiz Habib said that Pakistanis had special love for Saudi Arabia because the country looked after and maintained the holiest places on this earth. Pakistanis have always been given preferential treatment by the Saudi government and over a million Pakistanis have been provided employment by the Saudis, therefore, it’s important that we stand by a sincere and honest brother like Saudi Arabia and don’t let the anti-Saudi elements succeed in their nefarious designs, said Hafiz Habib.

“Our demonstration here today is a move of solidarity and love for the Saudi Arabia’s people and a gesture of gratitude for all the good things the Saudis have done to the world and especially Pakistan,” he said.
