CCI next meeting to decide census date, flood protection programme: CM
NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Friday said that the decision about census would be taken in the forthcoming meeting of the Council of Common Interest (CCI).
Speaking at a public meeting in Shaidu here, he said the security forces were busy in the operation Zarb-e-Azb against the militant, which was the reason that the CCI meeting couldn’t take a decision about the census.
However, he said, the next meeting would decide a date for census. He said the next meeting would also discuss the flood protection programme. The chief minister said that the provinces had not held meeting to reach a consensus on the issue of flood protection.
“Every province would present a flood protection programme. We are trying to make the programme for 100 years,” he added. Pervez Khattak said that all chief ministers had unanimously decided to have a long-term programme to conserve water and address the energy crisis issue.
Commenting on the performance of government employees, the chief minister said that they were protecting their own interests.“They (government employees) have set aside public interest under a well-hatched conspiracy,” he added.
Pervez Khattak said making the government employees public servants was his government’s top agenda. He added that fighting corruption was a big challenge for the government. Enumerating his government achievements in the education sector, the chief minister said that two additional rooms had been constructed in over 15,000 state-run schools.
Pervez Khattak said that Rs8 billion had been allocated to improve condition of high and higher schools. He said 24,000 teachers had been recruited while 16,000 more would be employed next year.
The chief minister said that Rs8 billion had been spent to improve the condition of public hospitals. He said his government had made all the recruitment on merit and had shunned the politics of winning elections on the promise of providing jobs to voters.
