A newborn was found dead near Lalpul, Harbanspura on Sunday.

Police suspected that an unidentified woman had thrown her illegitimate baby to conceal her sin. Body was shifted to morgue.

MAN FOUND DEAD: A 30-year-old man was found dead in the limits of Data Darbar police station on Sunday.

Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict, who might have died of excessive use of drugs.

Police shifted the body to morgue.

BIKE-RIDER DIES: A young bike-rider lost his life in a road accident in the North Cantt area on Sunday.

The victim identified as Sajid was on his way on a bike when his vehicle skidded off the road and rammed into a moving rickshaw, as a result of which, he sustained fatal injuries.

He was rushed to hospital where he died. Police handed over the body to the family.

DRIVE AGAINST OVERLOADING: On the directions of Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police, N-5 Central Zone launched a comprehensive campaign against overloading, offloaded extra weight from vehicle to permissible per axle weight under National Highway Safety Ordinance 2000 besides imposing heavy fine to these vehicles.

The officers have been asked to adopt zero-tolerance policy against overloading in order to save the national asset in the form of national highways.

They were directed to make the all-out effort to make this campaign successful as damage to roads owing to overloading leads to higher maintenance and repair costs and shortens life of a road which burdens the state and law-abiding commuters who ultimately pay its cost.

DOCTOR KIDNAPPED: A senior registrar of Jinnah Hospital was kidnapped by some unidentified persons when he was on his way back from his clinic in the Faisal Town area.

Faisal Town police have registered a case against some unidentified persons on charges of kidnapping Dr Abu Rehan.

It was suspected that Dr Abu Rehan had been picked up by the officials of an intelligence agency in connection with his alleged links with a defunct organisation.
