Shah Rukh Khan hosts Apple chief, Tim Cook

It’s another big week for Shah Rukh, who hosted a star-studded dinner for Apple CEO, Tim Cook, flew out to Kanpur to see his IPL team, KKR, lose to Gujrat Lions and made more headlines for his upcoming film with Tanu Weds Manu director, Aanand L Rai.

Our story begins with SRK’s big bash for Apple’s chief executive Tim Cook at his bunglow, Mannat; this was Cook’s first trip to India and the Bollywood star made him more than welcome. Also present at the dinner were Amitabh Bachchan with wife Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya, Aamir Khan, Madhuri Dixit with husband Sriram Nene, Farah Khan, Sania Mirza, Pritam and AR Rahman among others. It sort of laid rest to many a rumour regarding dostis, rivalries and breakups between the Khans.

Thanking his Bollywood friends for extending a warm welcome to Cook and his team, SRK tweeted out his thanks to the industry, particularly the Bachchan family.

While Shah Rukh Khan is an expert at diplomacy we can’t help but wonder what this dinner actually meant. Knowing the star’s obsession with technology, we do feel there may be a collaboration between Apple and Red Chillies on the table!

After Apple CEO, another bigwig to take note of SRK was Bridesmaid director Paul Feig. Feig’s wife, Laurie tweeted that she hoped someday she and husband Paul would be hosted by SRK. In turn, SRK extended an invite to the Spy director, his wife and all their friends.

Moving to SRK’s projects on the film front, while Raees struggles to find a release date, his upcoming film with director Aanand L Rai is generating a lot of noise. The film is a two-heroine project which means the hunt is on to find two leading ladies who will star opposite Khan in the film. So far, the contenders include Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor. We’ll have to wait and see who bags this project.
