ADELAIDE: Pakistan key paceman Mohammad Irfan is being sent back home, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Tuesday.

The Pakistan cricket team was sweating over the fitness of Irfan who didn´t bowl in Tuesday´s training session and underwent an MRI scan on his hip injury.

Irfan suffered a recurrence of his hip injury during the game against South Africa but managed to complete the match, playing a pivotal role in the 29-run victory.

However, he missed the following game against Ireland, played on March 15 which Team Pakistan managed to win.

His absence will be a major blow not only for the next match against tournament-favourites Australia on March 20, but also for the semi-final as well as final if Pakistan manages to progress smoothly.
