Confidence of Balochistan police boosted after CTF training: CM

QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said on Thursday that he is pleased with the completion of the Counter Terrorism Force (CTF) training in Quetta which has boosted the confidence of the police force.

Addressing the passing out parade of the first ever contingent from Quetta’s counter terrorism training academy, he said that the nation as a whole as well as the province of Balochistan are faced with terrorism and the police force will serve the interests of the people of the province.

While expressing his hopes that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would continue to visit the province, he went on to say that the trained force is ready to take up the challenge of terrorism.

The CM further said that efforts are being made to depoliticise the police force and that appointments as well as promotions will be strictly based on merit.

The ceremony today was attended by the PM, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Commander Southern Command Lt General Nasir Ali Janjua, Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti and other high officials of provincial government, FC, police and Pakistan Army.

The CTF contingent comprising 200 commandos including 18 lady constables, received 30-day training from the Pakistan Army at the academy. The passing out soldiers also carried out mock exercises displaying their capabilities against terrorists.
