PESHAWAR: The latest issue of Pakistan Journal of Criminology contains articles from researchers around the globe.
They include Prof Elena G Bystrova and Prof Peter Gottschalk (Norway), Prof Tompa Mukharji (India), Prof Fida and Richard Lee (USA), and Prof John Winterdyk (Canada).
In their paper, Prof Bystrova and Gottschalk discussed social conflict theory and white-collar criminals. The paper discusses that powerful and wealthy people in the upper-class of society define what is right and what is wrong.
Prof Tumpa Mukherjee focuses on rehabilitation of offenders in prison. She discusses the case study of Nigel Akkar from Kolkatta who was charged with murder, extortion, and kidnapping and was completely transformed after spending time in jail.
Other researchers focus on topics including Swara, anarchism, militancy, media violence and youth, problems of women in police stations, police training and education, intelligence, juvenile investigation, and a book review. The journal’s editorial critically discusses the KP police reforms initiatives.
