PESHAWAR: Senior Awami National Party (ANP) leader and Member National Assembly Ghulam Ahmad Bilour on Monday criticised the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government for its “Punjab-centric policies” and claimed these have deepened the sense of deprivation among smaller provinces.
Speaking at a news conference, he said that benefits were being given to Punjab by usurping the rights of smaller units of the federation. On the occasion, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) activist and former candidate for NA-3 Dr Mohammad Zaman and a worker of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Meraj Khan announced joining the ANP.
Ghulam Bilour asked the federal government to shun such policies as the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had rendered unmatched sacrifices in the war against terrorism.About the Chinese president’s visit, the ANP leader said the agreements signed with China mostly focused on development projects in Punjab.
Calling for an end to violence, he said that all the parties to the Yemen conflict should work out a peaceful solution to the issue. Expressing concern over the escalation of violence in Yemen, he said the Muslim rulers should join hands to foil the conspiracies aimed at fomenting unrest in the Middle East.“The Muslims will not hesitate to render any sacrifice for the protection of the holy places in Saudi Arabia,” he declared.
