Chinese company to set up cement plant in Salt Range

CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that there is no room for terrorists and their facilitators in the country.
He said that National Action Plan was a joint national strategy against terrorists and their facilitators and it was being effectively implemented in Punjab. He said that police and law enforcement agencies should spare no effort for eliminating the elements involved in terrorism besides their facilitators.
According to a handout, the CM expressed these views while addressing a meeting, here Tuesday. The meeting reviewed law and order and implementation on National Action Plan while it was also decided to intensify the operation against terrorists and their facilitators. The chief minister said that National Action Plan reflected determination of the nation to thwart terrorism. He said directed that all-out measures should be taken for the protection of life and property of citizens, activities of banned organisations should be curbed with full force and the steps under National Action Plan should be continued. He directed that the law regarding ban on loudspeaker should be fully implemented and effective implementation of the law regarding wall-chalking and publication and distribution of objectionable material should be ensured. He directed that indiscriminate action should be taken against banned organisations as well as those providing them financial assistance.
MoU: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Punjab government and Chinese cement company, Yantai Baoqiao Jinhong regarding setting up of a modern cement plant in Salt Range.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest at the signing ceremony held here at Model Town. According to a handout issued here Tuesday, under the agreement, the Chinese company will set up a latest cement plant in Salt Range with an investment of $350 million. Secretary Minerals Dr Arshad Mahmood and Chairman of the Chinese company Li Baolu signed the agreement.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said the agreement between the Punjab government and Chinese company regarding setting up of a modern cement plant would result in Chinese investment and benefiting from Chinese technology besides creation of job opportunities. He said that Punjab government welcomed investment by Chinese company in cement industry in the province. He said that all-out facilities were being provided to foreign investors regarding investment in the province and the Punjab government would extend maximum cooperation to the Chinese company in the establishment of the cement plant. He said the establishment of latest cement plant by the Chinese company in Salt Range would also result in transfer of modern technology. He said the Punjab government wanted to benefit from Chinese technology in other sectors as well. He said that China was investing billions of dollars in Pakistan under historic Chinese package of investment. He said that mega projects were being established in energy, infrastructure, industry and other sectors under CPEC. The Chairman of the Chinese company said that his company wanted to set up a state-of-the-art cement plant in Punjab which would be environment-friendly and based on modern technology.
PM greets CM: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif congratulated Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on completing Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Project transparently in a record period and said the project had been executed in a very short period. Prime Minister said that Shahbaz Sharif was changing Punjab due to his hard work. He said that Shahbaz Sharif should also change his verses and have new ones in the changing new Pakistan, on which the chief minister smiled.
