A literary conference was held with the collaboration of Pakistan Academy of Letters on the theme of role of writers in the building of peaceful and educated society at the University of Management Technology on Monday.
The conference was inaugurated by renowned poet Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi. Welcoming the guests, UMT Rector Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad said literary people were asset of the country, their role for promoting culture of love, tolerance and devotion was critical.
He said although UMT was fundamentally an institution of science and technology, yet it believed greatly that literature was mirror of life that must be promoted because both education and literature were interlinked. Dr Hasan said that sponsorship of literature was an element essentially required for the nation building and its recognition. He termed literary figures true leaders of society whose criticism on society had a positive impact. The Rector said no nation could make progress without giving respect and appreciation to literary persons.
The literary conference was addressed by Pakistan Academy of Letters Chairman Dr Qasim Bhugio, Naimatullah Guchki, Intzar Hussain and Sehar Gull Bhatti. The conference had three sessions in total, where a number of literary articles were presented.
