Teachers stage protest against police action

MULTAN: Teachers of Punjab Education Foundation linked schools Wednesday staged a protest against police action against their colleagues in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The protesting teachers staged a demonstration outside the Multan press club and condemned police torture and raids at the houses of the teachers at Lahore. They demanded resignation of the Punjab Education Minister. Addressing the protesters, FRSP chief organizer Chaudhry Arshad Mehmood criticized the government policy against the PEF linked schools. He said at least 3 million children would suffer because of the disruption in admission to the PEF schools.

He said thousands of teachers and school owners across the province were gathering in Lahore on March 19. Arshad said a rally would be taken out from the Punajb Assembly building upto Lahore Press Club where the teachers would stage a demonstration till the acceptance of their demands. FRSP senior leader Farid Banhish also condemned police action against teachers. He said all PEF teachers were staging demonstrations in Multan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar and Shujabad. FRSP office-bearers, including Chaudhry Noor Muhammad Myeo, Tariq Amir Abbas, Rana Aslam Sagar, Yusuf Dogar, Fyiaz and All Pakistan Private Schools Association vice president Chaudhry Muhammad Irshad, office-bearers of Movement for All Pakistan Private Schools Association, including Chaudhry Waqas Arif, Mudasar Dogar, Ehsan Saeedi, Rana Khalid Majid and others also spoke.
