ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected the petition filed by the federal government against the court’s orders on reinstatement of Chaudhry Rashid as Pemra chairman.
An IHC single bench, comprising Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi, took up the federal government petition for hearing on Wednesday. Additional Attorney General (AAG) Husnain Karim Kundi appeared in the court on behalf of the federation and took the plea that court’s order is illegal. Therefore, the federation wants to file an appeal against the court’s orders.
He prayed the court to issue a stay order against the orders on reinstatement of Chaudhry Rashid as Pemra chairman. Chaudhry Rashid has taken over the charge of Pemra chairman before issuance of notification by the government in this regard.
The court expressed displeasure at this, remarking, “No need is left for notification from the federal government when the court order comes.”It may be mentioned here that Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi had issued orders on May 25 for reinstatement of Chaudhry Rashid as Pemra chairman.
