SUKKUR: The Punjabi Taliban terrorist group headed by Asif Chooto and Ustad Aslam had set up a network in Shikarpur to unleash terror in Sindh and Balochistan.
This was revealed by Muhammad Khalil Aka Sikandar Aka Asghar Zahri Brohi and Ghulam Rasool Pandrani Brohi who had been arrested a couple of days ago and are being interrogated for their alleged role in the bombing of a mosque in Shikarpur, stated the SSP of Shikarpur, Saqib Ismail Memon, during a press conference here.
He said the suspects had confessed their involvement in the incidents of suicide attacks on Dargah Ghulam Shah Marri and in Shabbirabad during Ashura in Khanpur in 2010. According to the police official, the suspects had also identified Abdul Hafeez Aka Ali Sher Brohi, Abdul Manan Aka Zameer Marfani, Ismail, Abdul Bari and Pir Bux as their accomplices.
The suspects also admitted having planted an explosive device near the office of Syed Hajan Shah, the custodian of Ghulam Shah Marri Shrine, which killed Syed Hajan Shah and two other clerics.
The SSP said that the suspects had also disclosed their plans to unleash terror in Sindh and Balochistan in the days to come had they not been arrested. The SSP of Shikarpur said that all efforts were being made to arrest the absconding terror suspects.He praised the efforts of Shikarpur police and the CTD team in foiling the bid of terrorist attacks.
