SBP seeks details of all NGO bank accounts

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Sunday sought details of bank accounts of all the Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Pakistan.
The SBP has directed all banks to give relevant information, including details of international funding from various countries.The move is being carried out in the light of the recent orders of the Supreme Court (SC) on the NGO regulations.
On June 23, the SC summoned details of NGOs operating in Pakistan. The apex court directed the federal and provincial governments to provide details of the NGOs.The court also sought the registration and monitoring mechanism for the NGOs along with details of funding.
