ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday approved three names for a legal team that would present the viewpoint of the government in the Judicial Commission that has been constituted to probe into the allegations of rigging in 2013 general elections, the sources told The News here on Monday.
“The legal team that would present the viewpoint of the government in the Judicial Commission comprises senior lawyers including Khalid Anwar, Khawaja Haris and Makhdoom Ahmad,” the sources said.
The names of the legal team were finalised after informal discussion of the prime minister with some federal ministers who also floated some suggestions to strengthen the case of the government during hearings of the Judicial Commission.
The Judicial Commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk in its first hearing decided to conduct public hearings and the first would be held on April 16 in Court No1 in the Supreme Court.
When contacted, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid told The News: “I confirm it that a three-member team has been approved by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that will represent the government in the Judicial Commission.”
