SWABI: Reacting to the termination of his basic membership by the Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP), MPA Babar Khan said on Sunday that he was the elected representative of thousands of people and he would fight a legal battle if an effort was made to de-seat him. Babar Khan, who is the son of late Dr Muhammad Salim, (founder of the Swabi Qaumi Mahaz), was elected as MPA from PK-31 in the 2013 general election on AJIP ticket.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said the AJIP leaders should have issued a show-cause notice to Liaqat Tarakai, who is the father of provincial Senior Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, instead of terminating his party membership. He said Liaqat Tarakai was elected as senator on PTI ticket.
The MPA said that he was elected on AJIP ticket, but never violated party discipline. Babar Khan said that he didn’t bother to reply to the show-cause notice as it was sent to him through the manager of the Tarakai Company.
