Murder convict hanged in Bahawalpur jail

BAHAWALPUR: A murder convict was hanged in the New Central Jail here on Saturday morning.
Multan ATC Judge Tariq Khan had awarded death to Muhammad Anees in the murder case of Azhar on July 24, 1997. The Bahawalpur ATC judge had issued his death warrants and he was shifted to the New Central Jail Bahawalpur a few days ago. Meanwhile, three more murder convicts, including two brothers Ghulam Haider and Ghulam Sarwar of Sadiqabad, would be hanged in the New Central Jail Bahawalpur on Oct 13.
Man kills sister, her husband for contracting love marriage

BAHAWALPUR: A man killed his sister and her husband for ‘honour’ at Chak 153/2-L, Tehsil Haroonabad, on Friday night.
Accused Naeem Awan murdered his sister Shakeela and her husband Muhammad Amir. The couple had contracted love marriage about one year ago. The police have arrested the alleged killer and shifted the dead bodies to a hospital for autopsy.
INTER RESULT ANNOUNCED: The Bahawalpur Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Saturday announced the result of intermediate annual part I. According to the Bahawalpur BISE Controller Prof Nasir Jameel, total 34,938 candidates appeared in the exams and 17,176 candidates were declared pass with 49.16 pass percentage.
TWO CUBS DIE IN ZOO: Two newborn cubs died in the Bahawalpur Zoo on Friday night. According to Zoo’s curator Naveed Khan, three cubs had been segregated from lioness Rani after their birth on Sep 29 as the lioness had killed one of its newborn cubs. Despite of all care and nutrition consultations, two cubs died due to gastroenteritis, he maintained. The bodies of the cubs were sent to the IUB Veterinary Science College for post-mortem to determine the causes of deaths, he added.
COMMITS SUICIDE: A man committed suicide on Eidgah Road, Haroonabad, on Saturday. Rizwan Ahmad ended his life by taking poisonous pills. The motive behind the incident is still not ascertained.
